Kanye West has worked on Yeezys for years now. Following its bulky, chunky Air Yeezys, and after the Yeezy 750, Kanye’s post-Nike days were all about slimmer silhouettes. The Yeezy 350 V1 and V2s were the trademark Yeezy models since 2015. However, with the recent introduction of the Adidas Yeezy 700, a shift is taking place.
Getting Bored of 350s
People are starting to get tired of the 350 lineups. Unlike Jordan Brand, Ye might not be able to get away with new colorways to the same silhouette. Especially since the quickly developing world is so demanding for new and interesting things. People’s attention spans are getting shorter, and they bore quicker.
Yeezys aren’t like Air Jordan 1s. They are not a classic. The brand can’t afford to be boring. Kanye and Adidas need to keep their customers on their toes. Hence, the introduction of new silhouettes. Recently, it’s by way of the Adidas Yeezy 700.
Adidas Yeezy 700
When it was first spotted in 2017, the Adidas Yeezy 700 was met with a lot of hate and criticism. The dad shoe wave was just becoming trendy, and the general public were not early adopters of the trend. Surprisingly, with time, the new Waverunner 700 began to grow on us.
Today, we await the next colorway of the Adidas Yeezy 700, the Mauve. Meanwhile, the Yeezy 350 V2s are due to drop in Zebra, Semi Frozen Yellow, Sesame, and Static colorways.
The 350 V2 silhouette has been milked so dry that it’s becoming irrelevant, while the Adidas Yeezy 700 is about to turn a new page with the leaks of Yeezy Boost 700 V2. Furthermore, the 700 line keeps people on the edge by leaking a 700 V3 even before the release of the 700 V2.
Moral of the Story
Sneaker brands need to stay relevant to the times. Like the Yeezy Boost 700 V2 will bring new things to the brand, maybe the Yeezy 350 V3 can revive the silhouette and bring it out of the shadows and back into the foreground. For now, however, look forward to the Yeezy Boost 700 Mauve dropping October 27, 2018, for $300 at Adidas, Yeezy Supply, and select retailers.
